Today I had some very annoying issue with Web Part’s Target Audiences. I have been trying to set a SharePoint group named XXX as a target audience for my Content Editor Web Part, but unfortunately after I’ve done the change the Web Part become hidden to all users , even users from XXX didn’t seen it.
I’ve never encountered this issue before. You don’t have any log for this issue and actually I’m familiar with one and only one problem with target audiences: Some members of a SharePoint group target audience cannot access a Web Part in SharePoint Server 2007
Fortunately the fix for my issue was much easier. I just entered the advanced permissions link under the Site Settings and chose to stop inheriting permissions from the parent site and inherited the permission once again. That’s all. That fixed the issue with target audiences and now it works perfect.
